Sparkly

Just wanted to make a quick post and show you guys what I got in the Baublebar summer sale. This necklace was only $10 (with free shipping!)
baublebarnecklace

They also threw in a full sized bottle of Sally Hansen triple shine polish! I have no idea if they are including these in all the orders right now, if it was just for the summer sale, or if it was because I had entered a contest on their site recently. (It was a contest promoting Sally Hansen and it had a little graphic of a claw machine and when I won, a bottle of polish came up but instead it gave me a % off coupon code). Either way, I was happy about it because I’ve wanted to try the Triple Shine polish for a while. The color I got was Red Snapper. So once again, very happy with my Baublebar purchase so I will probably keep writing about them! Click the link if you’d like to use my referral link (thank you!!). They have a points program that equals $ off your purchase, and you get points for shopping and referring. I absolutely love shopping at sites with points!

That’s all for now. I have an eyeliner review coming up soon. Hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th of July weekend!

Oh dear, another shopping post…

Just a quick post to tell you about something pretty that’s on sale. (I like pretty things on sale, don’t you? I also like making commentary in parentheses if you hadn’t noticed).

This pave eliptical pendant is the current ‘buried bauble’ at Baublebar. It’s regularly $32 but it’s on sale for $10. Baublebar also has free shipping, a points system for discounts, and very nice packaging. This pendant is available in gold, silver, or rose gold. And it’s sparkly… need I say more? I think this necklace would make a really nice gift, too. Sign up for their emails for coupon codes and discounts, and if you’d like to use my referral code it’s 25362337. (Copy and paste is your friend!). While you’re at the site check out their other statement necklaces, and also their personalized jewelry. They even have acrylic nameplate necklaces that literally make a necklace out of your signature ($56). How cool is that? Buried baubles are items that are marked down on Mondays and Fridays. Enjoy your shopping!

Do you guys like when I post about sales? I love internet shopping and coupon codes and deals, so I like sharing those with you when it’s something I like or would buy. I’ll have the review of my Birchbox Finds box up soon, I meant to finish it ages ago. Have a great weekend!

Trend Jewelry

Normally I stick to writing about makeup around here, but I ordered some jewelry as Christmas gifts and I was so impressed with it that I’ve been meaning to do a post about it.

A while back, Birchbox sent alot of their subscribers a bracelet from BaubleBar in their boxes, and that’s where I first heard about the site. I got one of the bracelets and it was nice enough, just a plain cord bracelet with black beads and one glitter bead. I still wear it sometimes and I had signed up for emails from the website but I never got around to ordering anything. At Christmas I started looking for personalized jewelry for gifts, and I checked out the website and found some really good deals and alot of pretty things. I ended up ordering two bracelets, and let me just say, BaubleBar sure knows a thing or two about packaging and presentation.

BaublebarPic1

The bracelets arrived in a velvety fold over black bag (pictured above) that snapped closed, with a little tag on each bracelet. The bag itself was wrapped in striped tissue paper, and even the receipt came inside a neon green and pink envelope like a card. All of that was packaged inside of a nice box that I was able to leave them in and wrap. The bracelets were beautiful and appear to be well made. Packaging may be a little thing, but when you’re giving a gift having a nice presentation seems to add so much to it. Any jewelry that comes in its own velvet bag with the store logo instantly seems a little nicer.

Let’s face it, you can buy cheap trendy jewelry in little mall shops for a few bucks. But most of it looks exactly like it cost a few bucks, and it doesn’t hold up well. If you’re looking for unique, pretty pieces like statement necklaces and stackable bracelets, that actually look high quality, Baublebar is definitely worth checking out.

As an added bonus, they have some cool site features as well. Signing up for their emails will get you 15% off of your first order. Each week they email a clue about a ‘buried bauble’ which will be an item on the site that’s temporarily marked down. Around Christmas they had enamel bracelets like the one I bought, but without the initial, as a buried bauble for $10! Shopping with them will earn you “vault points” as well. Every dollar spent earns you 1 vault point and 10 vault points equals $1 in BaubleBar credit. Not bad at all! I love websites that actually reward you for shopping there. Lastly, they even have a referral program to score more points. You can invite friends and earn 150 vault points when they make their first purchase. NICE. Did I mention their shipping is free?

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you guys about them since I was so happy with my purchase. Out of all the gifts I bought online this holiday season, those bracelets were probably my favorite. I will definitely be shopping with BaubleBar again. Let me know if you guys decide to check it out, I’d love to see what you buy! And if you’d like to use my referral link, you can click here (Thank you!!). Or if you’d like to manually enter my code at sign up it’s 25362337.

November Birchbox Review

Generally the best time to write a Birchbox review, is on the day that your Birchbox for the next month ships out, right? Okay, probably not, but I’ve been a little busy/lazy, so we’ll just pretend that I’m not super late in writing this and that November hasn’t been over for a while now.

I went to the Birchbox site just now to make sure I get all of the product names right and don’t forget anything. When I clicked on box, my December box contents were already up! I had to close my eyes quickly and scroll down, lol. I like to be surprised. I try to even be careful which Birchbox tweets or youtube videos I watch, until I get my box. Once I open it, I go to youtube and see what you guys got. 🙂 Anyway, moving on to the review.

Atelier Cologne Vanilla Insensee – I was excited to try this, because a full size bottle is… wait for it.. $170. And seriously? Who doesn’t want to smell like they wear perfume that expensive? I’ve mentioned many times that I’m not much of a perfume girl, the last perfume that I wore regularly was Chanel Chance, but once I ran out I never bothered to buy more. I really wanted to love Atelier even though I knew I would never buy the full size – I think there is a smaller version available though. The fragrance definitely lasts, but wasn’t overpowering and did not give me a headache, (unlike this months Sephora catalog!) In the end, this perfume just wasn’t really my style. It was pleasant enough but I never wore it again. A family member got the same sample and loved it, however. I feel like it’s really difficult to review perfume because it’s such a subjective thing. If you love fragrance and are looking for one with staying power, it’s worth testing the next time you’re at the perfume counter. That is, if your wallet will let you. The sample size was a regular little vial, and included a postcard.

Borghese Fango Active Mud Face & Body – This was a really nice sized sample that came in a pretty tube. I love face masks, and have somehow never tried a mud mask before so I couldn’t wait to use this. When you squeeze this out, it kind of warms and melts slightly with the heat from your hands. The mud itself is dark green, and once I had my face covered in it I had an almost irresistible urge to run outside and hide in the bushes. Camouflage! (Camophile would probably steal this from me if he had half a chance!) As the mud dries, it hardens, making it difficult to smile or move your face. At this point, your only real option is to take a photo of yourself with your cellphone, and send it to a guy with the caption, “it’s not easy being green!” Not that I did that, of course. *cough* This mask is strangely fun to use, and really gives you that spa type feeling that you want from a face mask. The results I had afterward were fine, my skin looked soft and maybe a little clearer, but not really enough to make me want to purchase the full size. They have other masks that do different things for your skin, and those come in different colors. I would love to try some of the others, because I think the product itself is really nice and feels luxurious. I will continue to use the rest of my sample, and might look into other Borghese products. I just noticed that it’s supposed to work well as a spot treatment for acne, so I will definitely try that too. Lastly, this mask is not *too* difficult to remove, which is a big plus; the full size jar is really cute and comes with a sponge to help with removal.

LaROCCA Champagne and Shimmer Super Creme – This was a decent sized sample in a nice little jar. The consistency of this is interesting, it’s not really like a lotion the way you would expect. Instead, it seems more like a thin frosting. That’s kinda cool I guess. It has a pleasant enough scent, that reminded me just a little bit of L’Occitane’s Dream Cream, though I didn’t smell them both at the same time to check that. The product does exactly what you’d expect, it leaves you with very subtle golden shimmers. I wouldn’t go as far as to call this glitter, but it definitely leaves a nice sparkle. I did not find it particularly moisturizing, but I’ve only used it once. It’s a really nice product for holiday parties, and I can see why it was included. The shimmer didn’t seem to last very long, which could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how you look at it. Perhaps using more product would have helped it to last longer, but I just put a small amount on my arms to test it. I will definitely wear this out, but I won’t be purchasing the full size simply based on the fact that Olay Quench Lotion can give you [silver] shimmer that lasts longer at a much cheaper price. I really have nothing negative to say about this, it’s quite nice I just don’t see it as a must have for me personally.

Zoya Jems and Jewels Collection – Obviously I have professed my undying love for Zoya polish on this site many times, so I was thrilled to find out that everyone’s box included a bottle of it this month. The color I received was Izzy, a pretty and metallic hot pink shade. This is not a color I would normally think of for the holidays, but once I saw it, it made perfect sense. I managed to get complete coverage with only one coat, and it looked gorgeous! This color reminds me of those metallic holiday wrapping papers, which look so pretty but are awful to actually try and wrap with! This bottle of polish was about half the size of the standard bottles. While it would’ve been great to get a full size of course, these mini bottles are really cute. I actually wish you could buy these minis because I think it would be adorable to use ribbon and tie a couple of them onto presents beneath the bow. Anyway, Izzy is a beautiful color and when I run out, I will definitely consider the full size.

Two Paperdolls Coasters – There isn’t too much to say about these, they were a pair of thin cardboard coasters with a printed design. The design was cute, and I always prefer the treat to be something useful rather than a food item, so I have no complaints. If you’re determined not to use these, you could always buy a pretty coffee cup, wrap it up in cellophane, drop in the coasters behind it and a pack or two of hot chocolate inside the cup, add a bow and you’ve got yourself another little gift!

Baublebar Black Wood Pop Bracelet – I was lucky enough to get one of the bracelets that were given to the 10,000 or so people with the most points. It’s a simple cord bracelet with black beads, and one sparkly bead. It’s adjustable, and I have worn it. Cricket and I noticed that some people on youtube got sparklier beads than ours were, but that’s because we’re strange like that. Ours both had a slightly more antiqued look to them. That’s totally irrelevant, but I just thought I’d put that out there, lol. Either way, I thought it was really nice of Birchbox and Baublebar to give us an extra gift like that. It also came packaged in a really cute little velvet drawstring bag, so that was cool too. I’m pretty sure there was even a $10 off coupon code for Baublebar, though I didn’t find anything there at the time that I wanted to buy.

Overall this was a really good Birchbox. There wasn’t anything I hated, or anything I can’t find something positive about. This month was an excellent value for the money, especially considering the extra bracelet.
