Save Some Money

Time for some more deals.

Birchbox is having a 30% off sale here. Aces get 40% off. Don’t forget that if you sign up by November 9th using a referral link, you get $10 to spend in the shop. Another excellent deal I found recently on Birchbox was when I was shopping for some eye makeup remover. I had previously received a sample of Marcelle Gentle Eye Makeup Remover For Sensitive Eyes, and had liked it alot. When I went to purchase it, it was $15. Then I noticed that you can get that product for FREE with any full sized purchase from Marcelle right now using the code MAKEUPREMOVER. I looked around and found that the Marcelle Oil Free Eyemakeup Remover Pads were only $10. So I ordered those, got the full sized liquid version for free with the code, paid for my order with $10 in Birchbox points and got free shipping with my Aces status. All the eyemakeup remover I could want and it didn’t cost me a penny! (Do you see why I love Birchbox??) They also have a free Eyeko eyelash curler ($18 value) with any mascara purchase right now. The code is LASHCURLER. Not sure which mascara to choose? They have a sampler of Benefit mascaras that looks pretty cute.

DecalGirl has 25% off of their entire site right now.

Zoya still has BOGO on fall shades with code FBG. Or you can still get the Spooky Glam Trio free with $25 purchase and free shipping with code GLAM3. As far as I know, Zoya codes don’t stack, so you’ll have to choose one deal per order.

Hope that everyone had a very nice Single Awareness Day. (Okay, okay, Valentines Day). If for some reason you can’t be bothered to follow me on Twitter… and I can’t blame you for that… here’s a pic of my Valentine Nails. Clearly I was trying to win the Zoya Secret Admirer contest thing, but did not win, drats. Maybe because I accidentally covered up the A on the bottle and they didn’t want Zoy to get all the credit.

Embedded image permalinkAnyway, clearly my Konad skills are a bit rusty because they turned out a little messy. I should’ve just used Special Polish because the Zoya was drying a little too fast for stamping. When that happens, it leaves little tails of polish that gets smooshed over the design. Very technical description, I know. Shortly after taking this picture I went to scrub pans, so they’ve got some tip wear now as well since I couldn’t be bothered with a topcoat. Classy! I will probably just take it off and call it a day later tonight. I need to cut them anyway, I can type faster when my nails are shorter, which means more rambling for you guys. Sorry!

I also wanted to direct your attention to a very funny blog I discovered, Snacks On Rotation. She talks the way I talk inside my head, and that makes me happy and also feel less crazy. It’s win win, basically. She also subscribes to more beauty boxes than …well, anybody, I think, so it’s informative too.

And now for a slight rant. Have you seen the buy 5 bras get the 6th free program at American Eagle? Around November I qualified for the 6th one, and I was like YAY FREE STUFF. They’re supposed to send a code in the mail, but mine never arrived so I emailed them. I was told that it could take weeks, and to just wait for it. So December rolls around, and I realize that the count resets in January, so I emailed them again. They wrote back and asked for some info which I replied with. They wrote again and very politely said they would send a code. Soon afterward, they followed through and sent me a code. I bounced around all excitedly and picked out my free bra and what do you know, the code was expired. I emailed them again, they sent another code. Also expired. I emailed them again, they said they would fix it and asked for both of the codes they had sent me. Okay. I wrote them and listed the codes. They wrote again and said they fixed the problem and to just use the first one. Tried again, still expired. I wrote them back and asked if I was possibly doing something wrong. They said no, it was on their end, and they would contact corporate to make sure the next code they sent me was valid. That was a month ago, exactly, and I still haven’t heard from them. Now, I hate to complain about things. Especially free things. So I feel guilty about writing them so much. I’ve been as polite as possible in every exchange that I’ve had with them and I absolutely appreciate their (normally) quick and nice replies. But how long does it take to get a code that works, when they run this program at all times and clearly must be sending out these codes constantly? I’m not sure what to do at this point. I used to buy my bras from Victoria’s Secret but they stopped having as many coupon codes on their site, and I realized it was a much better deal to get them from Aerie who has alot of coupons and often have free shipping/sales. The 6th free program was one of the main reasons I switched. Now I’m wondering if they send those free bra coupons through the mail hoping they will never arrive or be lost and that people just won’t use them. I don’t want to say that they’re intentionally giving me the run around about it, but I’m not even sure what to say if I do write them again. Any thoughts? And has anyone else had trouble with this? I do most of my online clothes shopping at AE, but since this I haven’t even bothered to go to the site. My ex has offered to call them for me since I don’t like calling customer service, but I doubt he can do it without making someone cry, so I told him he needn’t bother. What do you guys think, should I email them again or just let it go and hope they eventually write back?

Anyway, my February Birchbox preview will be up in a day or two. Have a wonderful weekend!

Zoya, Zoya, Zoya

Did you make your choices for the Zoya promotion yet? (Any 3 free, $12 shipping…see older posts for more info). I finally decided on colors last night and ended up ordering Hunter, Pepper, Louise, Rue, Odette, and Normani. Today Zoya put up this post referring to a special color for spring and possibly free shipping for anyone who participated in the promo. I’m not sure if it will be at a special price or just a new color with free shipping but it will be worth checking out when they post it on the 15th. The codes are personalized and non transferable.

If you’re on the fence about the Color Your World promo that extra incentive might make you decide to go for it. If that’s not enough to convince you to throw down the $12 for three colors, consider this; when Zoya announced the promo, they also raised their prices. This seems to be an annual thing for them because I’m pretty sure they raised their prices last January during the same promotion. They’ve been gradually doing this anyway with pixie polishes starting off at $9 and bringing the matte velvets back for $10. Now, the regular colors are all $9 instead of the $8 they were previously, and special finishes are more. That’s what convinced me to stock up during the promo, because I don’t plan to start buying alot of polish at $9-$10 each. I’m not complaining because I do understand that Zoya does more promos and giveaways than any other company. They certainly don’t have to do all these promotions and weekly Tune Tuesdays games and such. They are probably considering the fact that polishes like Butter London, Deborah Lippmann, and even Julep sell for even more. Still though, I remember when Zoya was $6 a bottle. Luckily I’ve built up my rather extensive collection during their sales.

ImageAnd by the way, does anyone know what happened to the Share The Love program on Zoya? I haven’t seen any rewards except free shipping on there for a long time. Although, free shipping is always nice. I’m just curious why they don’t talk about that program anymore.

In other news, Juice Beauty is having a thing where you could possibly win $500 worth of their products by posting reviews, so definitely check that out if you like the brand.

Julep is still offering their first Maven box for free with the code FREEBOX. Keep in mind though, this can be difficult to cancel once you’re in it. I was able to get out of it by sending them an email, but Cricket had to call them. They sent me another email saying that if you got the $9.99 starter box you could choose 2 extra colors for free. So, check out your options if you decide to try them since the free box will be random colors. I’m personally not that crazy about their polish (it was lovely but didnt last on me), however they have some beautiful colors.

Glossybox is now offering a men’s box, which looks really interesting but obviously not for me. I don’t subscribe to GlossyBox anyway due to the price but if any of you do, feel free to post your links in the comments because I’d love to see what you got.

My January Birchbox arrived yesterday so there will be a preview of that up soon.

Lastly there’s a Sephora promo where you can get a free deluxe mini of the Cotton Tshirt fragrance from Clean with any $25 purchase from their site today. If you’ve tried that, leave a comment and let me know how it smells! Happy shopping everyone!
